Draw me the abolition – 3rd edition

To mark the occasion of the 14th World Day Against the Death Penalty which will be held on October 10th 2016, secondary schools and sixth form pupils (12 to 18 years old) from all over the world are invited to take part in the third edition of the “Draw Me the Abolition” competition to create a poster against the death penalty. The 50 best drawings selected by an international panel will be exhibited in participating countries and during the Regional and World Congresses Against the Death Penalty. A catalogue of the exhibition will also be published to reward the pupils’ work.
Course of the competition
First phase: 10 October / 10 December 2016Introduction to the topic and to graphic design
During this phase, registered classes will be given a presentation in their school by one of the project’s partners who will raise their awareness on the topic of the death penalty. Furthermore, the competition’s organisers will hand all participating pupils educational tools on how to autonomously create a graphic poster.
Second phase: February 2017
Dispatch of the drawings to the panel
At this time, teachers or organisations will send the original drawings to ECPM by post to 69 rue Michelet 93100 Montreuil – France. For safety reasons, all original versions should be scanned and sent to the organisers via wetransfer.
Third phase: March 2017
Panel consultation and selection of the best drawings
An international panel composed of prominent human rights figures will select the 50 best drawings
Fourth phase: April 2017
Announcement of results and publication of the exhibition and the catalogue
The results of the competition will be published online on the abolition.fr website and all referring teachers and organisations will receive an email revealing the list of winning pupils. At the same period, the exhibition and the catalogue will be published.
Fifth phase:
Exhibition of the winning posters
The 50 winning posters will be exhibited in each participating country (place and date to be confirmed at a later date) and during the Regional (2018) and World (2019) Congresses Against the Death Penalty. The three drawings having received the highest number of votes will be rewarded with a special prize.
